RNA Potluck Social Event at the Moose Lodge

Thank you to all who attended! We had a great turnout, with a kids activity table and lots of fantastic prizes!
We had many items donated for our raffle! Thank you to Divine Market for supplying a gift basket valued at over $150 that we had a silent auction for, 55 Bath and Body (Koni Popke), Barber Joe, Wanda’s Hair, Charles & Kathie Luke, Patty & Ken Sooter, Betty & Robert Reina and Dennis & Karen Hebert, Sandy Fisher and thanks to the RNA Board for getting the gift certificates from TJ Max, Starbucks and the Patriotic Picture that were all raffled off.

The RNA Board would like to thank the Moose Lodge for allowing us to host our Social Meeting in their hall and barbecuing our hot dogs for us. If any homeowner would like to host a future RNA Social or General Meeting please send a message to Dave Ballard, our RNA President at dballard12@gmail.com

Recap from the IMPORTANT Neighborhood Meeting on the closing of our local Fire Station, #56 on Sunshine Rd. on Friday, January 9th at 5:30pm at the Crystal Falls Clubhouse.

Hello Ridgewood homeowners;

As you may have known, Ryan Campbell (our Supervisor) called for a meeting last Friday night the 9th at 5:30 at the Crystal Falls Clubhouse to give information and receive feedback regarding the closure of Station 56 (Mono Vista). This meeting occurred at the same time that an estimated 30,000 people lost power, but we still managed to have a full house. The meeting proceeded under dim lighting beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance. We were then treated to an original arrangement by the Raging Grannies (If there is a fire and you know it, clap your hands). After the rendition the lights came on, Supervisor Campbell quipped that he was going to have them sing at all of his meetings. 

Supervisor Campbell introduced Roger Root the interim County Administrator who gave us a financial rundown on the lack of funds that is precipitating the shut down of Station 56. Supervisor Campbell then spoke about his opposition to the closing as well as explaining his reasoning for his stance. A short Question and answer session followed. At this point Nathan Gorhum arrived, having been on site at the fire in Jamestown that caused the power outage.

Chief Gorhum presented those in attendance the same power point presentation that the board of supervisors had seen. The presentation outlined the consequences of closing station 56, the main points of which are longer response times for the entire county (not just the Mono Vista area), potential loss of eligibility for any further grant funds and the possibility of losing Cal-Fire as a partner if any further cuts are required. 

Supervisor Campbell closed the meeting, as we had run way over the time anticipated, by asking the audience to reach out to the entire county who may be unaware of the potential disaster that could happen as a result of closing Station 56. We as a board encourage any and all to reach out to any board member with any questions, comments, concerns or ideas to help save station 56. It is not too late. Sunday March 9th, 2025 Firewise/RNA membership social/ Wildfire Preparation Info Mtg

To help our residents in this effort, Ridgewood 108 Firewise together with the RNA is planning an event on March 9, 2025 at the Moose Lodge from 2:00-4:00pm to bring residents and potential services together. This will be an opportunity to gauge interest and understand the needs on individual properties to prepare for the May 3rd clean up campaign.

Please save the date of March 9, 2025 to attend the RNA membership preparation social event. This event will focus on identifying properties that would like to enlist in preparing their properties by contracting services at a discount for tree trimming and skirting, weed whacking, and raking of fallen pine needles and leaves for the May 3rd pick-up and removal.

May 3rd, 2025 is National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day!

This day is a campaign that encourages people and organizations everywhere to come together on a single day to take action to raise awareness and reduce wildfire risks. It is held annually in the United States and Canada on the first Saturday in May. Ridgewood 108 Firewise is committed to participating in this very important event in 2025. Community participation will be essential for reporting and renewal of the Ridgewood 108 firewise certificate in 2026.

Each of us can help promote wildfire protection by participating in risk reduction projects on or before the first Saturday in May. Studies show that measures taken at the home and in the area within 100 feet of it, known as the Home Ignition Zone (HIZ), have a significant impact on minimizing damage and loss. Something as simple as clearing the immediate 5-foot zone around the home can assist in making a huge difference in avoiding a catastrophe.

Pictures from the Spring Social on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Even though it was a cold, wet day we still had a great turnout. Over 50 Ridgewood Homeowners braved the cold. Thank you to Todd and Cyndi Simonson for opening up their beautiful yard to the RNA. Ryan Campbell gave a quick update on our area, including the Grand Opening of the new grocery store Divine Market in the Willow Springs area.
